In one of my previous posts on Mumbai banks, I covered some of the top banks in the city that has some cool antique doors. However, I also mentioned that one of the challenges for Thursday Doors is how I can incorporate history seamlessly into the narrative. I’m no history student, but I love to serve ‘something boring’ in my own innovative way. This week, I take you back in time when music could touch your heart and you could touch music, literally.

Writing on doors has always been a challenge to me. Why? Because I generally write about history, culture, food, destinations and shopping. Thursday Doors is a different topic altogether. Also, connecting doors with my travel theme is a bit tricky, therefore I kind of enjoy this challenge.
India has always been the land of diverse cultures and traditions. Over the years, many colonies and empires have settled here influencing the lives of the people in many different ways. Mumbai, in particular, has always been the city of commerce attracting people from far corners of the world.
Tucked in the quiet corner of South Mumbai you will find plenty of heritage buildings that stand the test of time. Previously I covered my college, the Elphinstone College that is among the oldest colleges in Mumbai (then Bombay). This time let me take you on a short trip to visit one of the prominent newspapers in India: Mumbai Samachar.
Have you ever gone through this feeling of satisfaction? A feeling of doing something that has been on your list for years. Something that has been on your mind for long but you couldn’t because of various reasons. Well, if you do you know how I am feeling right now. Most of the times travelling and planning go hand in hand. When we travel in India we do a lot of planning. This is because we want to make sure that we don’t have any issues later on. What makes a great trip? I believe the definition of a great trip would change from person to person. Udaipur is better known as the City of Lakes, but it is also a perfect place for romance. If you are looking for a great place to spend some quality time with your partner there is no better place than Udaipur. The city can surprise you with the kind of art, culture, heritage and historic places that you will find here. However, Udaipur is also immensely popular for food and you have to visit some of the top restaurants here to experience the best. Upre by 1559 AD was one of the restaurants on our list and we had the privilege to make the most of our trip.
Being the City of Lakes, Udaipur has plenty of lake-front restaurants that offer you fine dining experience. However, this small town has more to offer than you can imagine. If you are looking for some exceptional food in Udaipur you have to do better research. Most of the top restaurants are generally located close to the Lake Pichola. However, that doesn’t mean that you don’t look beyond it. Lake Fateh Sagar and the places around it can offer you equally good food options. We made an instant decision to visit 1559 A.D. for dinner and it is surely one of the best restaurants in Udaipur. Let me share what we discovered.
Daboo printing also known as Dabu printing is one of the traditional indigo dye printing techniques in India. While there are many printing techniques that have become popular globally, this one is certainly not one of them.
Consumers today love to wear new-age fabrics and designs that make them appear modern and urban. However, in this race of development and technological influences, we have somehow got disconnected from our roots. This post is all about the art of daboo print or dabu print that has managed to stay alive despite tough market competition.
