There is no food in the world like homemade food. Well, that’s true, but things are a bit different for me. I have worked in the restaurants and hotels for quite some time early in my career. Consequently, that has attracted me towards trying out new cuisines and food at some of the newest food places and pubs in Mumbai and elsewhere in India.
No matter wherever I go, I always try some food outside. A few months ago when I and Sarah were visiting the travel and tourism convention in Goregaon, Mumbai we decided to try British Brewing Company located in the Oberoi Mall. I had heard that it was among the best pubs in Mumbai. However, experiencing it is different from imagination.
The Décor
Normally, when we think of eating at the mall we think of Subway, McDonald’s, and KFC that have their standard décor of red and green colours and eat all the meals in those plastic trays. When we were roaming in the mall, the place doesn’t seem very appealing with those arch windows, but the moment you step in things change. It was certainly one of the best pubs in Mumbai in terms of decor.
The décor goes well with the pub atmosphere and you can instantly tell that you are here to have some great time with friends and loved ones. The interior consists of two large TVs for sports lovers. On the other side, there were three huge barrels for groups. I liked the barrel-style sitting where groups can have some private space and have a great time. It actually gives you the feeling that you are in one of the best pubs in Mumbai.
The Menu
Everything is rather different at British Brewing Company and that applies to the menu as well. While I and Sarah were waiting for the regular book-style cardboard menu, we got a tablet device on our table. This was quite interesting, unique and confusing for us because we had never experienced anything like it. Generally, food outlets provide tablets for providing food and service feedback, so I was wondering if the steward mistakenly put this on our table. But, No. It was a menu and we quickly learned that we have stepped into 2017 where cardboard menus are being replaced by jazzy tablet devices. The menu scrolling was simple and it was easy to make the choices and I believe this adds to the overall experience.
Food and Beverages
Without wasting any further time let me tell you that the food quality was very good. We were actually not very hungry, so we skipped the starters and decided to pick the Non-Veg Chef’s Pizza and Arabiata Sauce (Chicken). The pizza had grilled chicken, mushrooms, onions, tricolour peppers, and mild herbed tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese.
The fettuccine was delicious and the chicken was juicy, tender and perfectly cooked. The pizza arrived a bit later, but it had a very nice earthy taste to it. The combined flavours of mushroom and peppers made it very unique. The pizza here certainly tastes different. It stands out from the ones you eat at California Kitchen, Pizza Hut or Pizza Express. If you are a pizza lover you should visit British Brewing Company for a lovely pizza experience.
I also ordered a glass of Doppelganger craft beer and that went well with the food I ordered. The menu at the British Brewing Company is huge. They offer a wide variety of soups, salads, appetizers, skewers, tandoori food items, and wraps and sandwiches. If you are a foodie, British Brewing Company is one of the best pubs in Mumbai that offer delicious food.
For meals, they have pizzas, pasta, burgers, British-based food items, sizzlers, Thai curries, rice dishes, noodles, and desserts. They even have a Jain menu which is quite a surprise. For drinks, they offer mocktails, smoothies, milkshakes, aerated drinks and canned juices and of course a variety of beers.
The Experience
While I and Sarah were here for a very short period of time (because we had to visit the travel and tourism convention next), but we enjoyed the time here. British Brewing Company is a great place where you can relax and have conversations over food and beer. I am sure this is an ideal place to enjoy some nightlife in Mumbai and have some great time with friends.
The ambience is relaxed with all those phrases and quotes all over the wall. You can watch your favourite sport on the TV while you enjoy that gastronomic journey of yours. The staff is friendly and courteous which adds to the experience.
In terms of pricing, British Brewing Company offers competitive rates for the food and drinks. Hence, you can be sure that they go easy on your wallet. If you like hanging out with friends or with your loved ones British Brewing Company should be on your list. If you are looking for best pubs in Mumbai, you should head to BBC for a great food and drink experience.
So which are your favourite pubs in Mumbai or elsewhere? Do share your experiences and what you like about pubs the most.

I tried signing-up again for emails. The food looks great. I like pubs like this now and then, especially when I travel. When home, I tend to go to a smaller place. I’m hungry now!
Thank you for your comment, Dan. Yes, I have written to my site developer about notification emails. Hopefully, this should get sorted soon. This was more of a spontaneous trip actually. We were about to visit Burger King, but we saw this pub and changed our lunch plan. I am glad we did because the beer was so good along with that fettuccine and pizza.
Nice place for a mall for sure — the Pizza looked great!
Yes, the pizza is great, but fettuccine was way much better than the pizza and the beer was surely the best. I am going to visit this place again only for that beer and fettuccine.
The pizza and beer have me salivating. It looks delish! I have one question, though. What is Jain?
Jainism is one of the ancient religions in India and those who follow it are called Jains. They practice a strict vegetarian diet. Jains believe that they should not hurt even the smallest insects and living creatures on the planet and therefore their diet does not include root vegetables like carrots, potatoes, onions, eggplant, and garlic. They also do not consume honey and fermented foods. Hence, many restaurants that serve Jain food have a Jain version of their popular vegetarian dishes.
Hi Sharukh, for some reason most of the content in your pists won’t load onto my ipad. I haven’t tried the laptop yet but I will when I get on it later to work on my book. No photos load and only the first and last few sentences appear, although the heading for each segment are there. It’s weird. I never had this issue with your other blog. It is also still making me fill our name, email, etc every time I comment.
What a wonderful food find, Sharukh! Love the food and decor photos, and of you two! 🎶 Christine
Thank you, Christine. It was quite a spontaneous decision. Many a time we regret this kind of impromptu food tours, but this one was a good one.
Sharukh, wow, this place seems to be awesome and love the decor that makes it a place to spend some quality time. Next time I am in India, British Brewing Company is a must. Love the post.
Well, let me know when you fly down to Mumbai. We can have a great talk.
Sure will do and lotsa catch up, I bet!
