What makes a great trip? I believe the definition of a great trip would change from person to person. If you are a regular reader of my blog you already know about the recent Udaipur travel tour we made. There are a series of posts on my blog already that tell you about the different places we visited during our trip. It was a great trip, something that both I and Sarah would remember.
There are so many wonderful memories of Udaipur that it would be hard to put all of our experience in one post. Almost five days into our trip we never really saw the City Palace Udaipur because we saved the best for the last. The City Palace Udaipur is the beating heart of the city and most tourists come to the city to explore this palace. Hence, this is generally the first place that most would visit but we did the other way around.
Udaipur is better known as the City of Lakes, but it is also a perfect place for romance. If you are looking for a great place to spend some quality time with your partner there is no better place than Udaipur. The city can surprise you with the kind of art, culture, heritage and historic places that you will find here. However, Udaipur is also immensely popular for food and you have to visit some of the top restaurants here to experience the best. Upre by 1559 AD was one of the restaurants on our list and we had the privilege to make the most of our trip.
Sunday mornings are usually lazy mornings. However, we had very little time to cover up some of the important landmarks in Udaipur. This was our only Sunday in Udaipur and we decided to make full use of the time we had. Initially, we had thought of shopping in Udaipur on this particular Sunday. However, we decided to shop towards the end of our Udaipur tour.
Have you ever noticed that almost all cities globally have this one particular landmark around which the city is built? For instance, L’Arc de Triomphe in Paris, The White House in Washington D.C., and Connaught Place in New Delhi. Almost all these landmarks have historical significance and they tell us more about the city and its culture.
Our Udaipur trip has been all about exploring the different facets of the city, history is one of it. In one of the tours via Walk and Pedal Travel Tours, we explored the most iconic and important landmarks of Udaipur – Jagdish Temple.
Being the City of Lakes, Udaipur has plenty of lake-front restaurants that offer you fine dining experience. However, this small town has more to offer than you can imagine. If you are looking for some exceptional food in Udaipur you have to do better research. Most of the top restaurants are generally located close to the Lake Pichola. However, that doesn’t mean that you don’t look beyond it. Lake Fateh Sagar and the places around it can offer you equally good food options. We made an instant decision to visit 1559 A.D. for dinner and it is surely one of the best restaurants in Udaipur. Let me share what we discovered.
Daboo printing also known as Dabu printing is one of the traditional indigo dye printing techniques in India. While there are many printing techniques that have become popular globally, this one is certainly not one of them.
Consumers today love to wear new-age fabrics and designs that make them appear modern and urban. However, in this race of development and technological influences, we have somehow got disconnected from our roots. This post is all about the art of daboo print or dabu print that has managed to stay alive despite tough market competition.
In a world of cars and bikes, cycling tour seems like a boring activity. However, it all depends on your perspective. A cycling tour is not just about wearing lycra and sweating profusely as you pedal through your route. I had always wanted to do more cycling activities but the hectic routine offers me very little time. However, I somehow managed to experience a memorable bicycle tour in Udaipur and I was really excited about it.
Food is such an important part of the tours we do. Normally, when I and Sarah tour some place we check for some of the best restaurants that we could find. Even before we had thought of Udaipur, I had a word with one of my friends Zeyd on Udaipur. Since he is originally from Udaipur, we had a long chat on how Udaipur would be a great place for us to holiday and travel. It was then, that he had recommended me Tribute restaurant that offers lakeside fine dining. So, the first thing that I noted in my diary was this place. I’m glad that he did because it was definitely worth the experience.
