If you are located in Mumbai, Pune or any other part of Maharashtra you don’t have to go too far for honeymoon. Maharashtra has always provided the right kind of holiday experience to all kinds of travelers and people from the state, country and even internationally. If you are getting married this year and if you are looking for some best honeymoon destinations in Maharashtra then you have come to the right blog because I am going to share more about how these destinations can offer you the right honeymoon trip experience without tearing apart your budget any further. If you read some of my earlier blog posts on Maharashtra you will find that I have covered most of the places like hill stations and weekend getaways and I also believe that most of my readers must have already visited common destinations like Lonavala, Khandala, and Mahabaleshwar that usually attract high number of visitors. So, I have tried to bring you best honeymoon destinations in Maharashtra that are not common, they offer great honeymoon experience and they don’t bite into your budget offering you the right experience you are looking for.

Vengurla

Vengurla Landscape in Maharashtra

Reaching Vengurla can take you hours for sure but it is unexplored and that is what makes the trip worthwhile. If you are planning for budget honeymoon destinations you can look out for Vengurla that can offer you Goa-like experience without actually going to Goa. The place is almost north of Goa on the map and it can offer you a really nice time with your partner. Located in the Malvan you can also explore some historic forts here and try the mouthwatering Malvani cuisine that is second to none. Couples can explore temples like Shri Devi Sateri Temple and Rameshwar Mandir.

Vengurla Beach in Maharashtra

Vengurla Beach in Maharashtra

Take a walk on some of the cleanest beaches in Maharashtra during the evening as you watch the sun go down. However, it is recommended that you have your private vehicle or you can make use of rickshaws that ply all the time. Vengurla is 522 kilometers south from Mumbai and you can also use Konkan Railway to reach here and get down at Kudal railway station.

Toranmal

Toranmal Landscape, Maharashtra

Nestled in the Satpuda Ranges in the Nandurbar district of Maharashtra Toranmal is usually overshadowed by some other popular hill stations. However, that does not mean that there is no fun here at all. This hill station is located at the height of 1,150 meters above sea level so it offers the same kind of experience like you get in Mahabaleshwar, but my point here is that it is still a different place and something that you might have not experienced before.

Toranmal Landscape, Maharashtra

This hill station is around 510 kilometers north-east of Mumbai and 300 kilometers from Nashik. Couples can explore many places here like the highly popular Yashwant Lake, Sunset Point, Sita Khai, Lotus Lake, Saat Paayari, and Aawashabari Point. You can get some budget accommodations here throughout the year so enjoy your low cost honeymoon trip here.

Aurangabad

Aurangabad Honeymoon Maharashtra

Bibi Ka Maqbara in Aurangabad

History is all over Maharashtra and if you are looking for some honeymoon destinations in Maharashtra that allows you to explore historic locations then try Aurangabad. This city has remained the center of Mughal Empire during the reign of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Couples have a lot to explore here when they are on their honeymoon trip. I mean you can find the best hotels that suit your budget and do some shopping in Prozone Mall which is India’s first horizontally designed mall. You must be wondering all malls are horizontal so what’s so different in it. In simple words, the mall is more spread out and it only has ground level and first level, there’s no second floor or second level here.

Ajanta Ellora Caves near Aurangabad

You can shop some silk and cotton dresses and shawls here because Aurangabad is popular for it. Newlyweds can also explore some historic sites here like Bibi Ka Maqbara, Aurangabad Gates, Quilla-E-Arak, Kali Masjid, Salim Ali Lake and Bird Sanctuary, and the immensely popular Ajanta and Ellora Caves that have become UNESCO World Heritage Site. Aurangabad is 335 kilometers east of Mumbai and easily accessible by road, train and air way. Don’t miss out the Lonar Lake near Buldhana which is an interesting place to visit.

Nagpur

Nagpur Honeymoon Maharashtra

Tadoba National Park Near Nagpur

Located right in the middle of Indian peninsula Nagpur offers a wide range of options for newlyweds. You might not consider Nagpur as one of the best honeymoon destinations in Maharashtra but it can still offer you the honeymoon experience that you can explore. The Orange City is famous for the Nagpuri Santra or Nagpur Oranges and offers better options for wildlife lovers.

Nagpur City

If you are done with exploring city malls and shopping locations look out for various national parks around the city like Tadoba Andheri National Park and Nagzira National Park. Try the Saoji cuisine here which is usually made from chicken or mutton. Nagpur is around 900 kilometers from Mumbai so consider the travel time while preparing for the honeymoon trip.

Wai

Wai for Honeymoon in Maharashtra

Believe it or not, but I believe Wai has never got the kind of credit that it should get. Probably because nearby destinations like Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar attract more tourists than Wai, but that does not lessen the scenic beauty of Wai. Some of the best Hindi movies like Omkara, Swades, Ishqiya, Singham, Chennai Express, Gangajal, and Dabangg are shot in picturesque Wai. Couples can find some great budget hotels and resorts here so accommodation is never a problem in Wai.

Beautiful Landscape of Wai, Maharashtra

Explore the Dhom Lake and Dhom Dam that offers the best landscape you can find in Maharashtra. Couples can even visit many temples here like Dholya Ganpati Mandir, Kashi Vishweshwar Mandir, and Dhundi Vinayak Ganpati Mandir. You can also visit Veruli and Palpeshwar for historical caves just 5 kilometers from Wai. With just 250 kilometers from Mumbai, Wai is easily accessible through road and you can pick state road transport buses that ply from Mumbai and Pune every few minutes.

Thank you Dan. Well, there are many places in Maharashtra that can be chosen for honeymoon, but I decided not to choose the common ones. These places are not highly popular so I wanted to highlight these places. I mean what’s the point if you go for a honeymoon and find tons of tourists already roaming around. These spots are good, they offer privacy, tranquility to make honeymoon experience really special. It took me lot of time to sort out the best places out of the long list that I had. In fact, I wrote many other posts on honeymoon spots and I have divided the list, so that way every honeymoon post on my blog usually never repeats the same place.

Hi Shekhar. First of all congratulations. I wish you a great married life in the future. I would also like to thank you that you liked the blog and found it useful. With regards to your question, I usually don’t take any packages or hire travel agents because I do my own research and decide where to go along with my wife. Have you decided which places you want to cover in Maharashtra? What’s your budget? How many days you plan for your honeymoon trip?
